A sincere prayer

Last night Abigail offered to say the dinner prayer. She was very thoughtful in her prayer making sure to pray for each member of our family for a specific reason. When it came to me I lost it completely. I burst out with laughter before I could even think to contain myself. Mostly because it IS SO TRUE. Here's what Abigail said:

"Please bless Mom that she will learn how to make even more good food that we really don't like anyway."

Sunny Day Fruit Drink

This Saturday has been an amazingly beautiful day. We spent about 3 hours playing in the backyard. Okay, the girls played, Ben napped for most of it, and Joel and I read our books. But we were all outside and it was great. After our picnic lunch Abigail came up to Joel and me and asked if we wanted a drink. It almost felt like we should be on a tropical island~with a fruity drink. Well, almost. Here was her idea:

We have a grapefruit tree in the backyard. Abigail really thought we could have a tasty treat by just shoving a straw in it. Not a bad idea, but probably not the best fruit to go with :) And Collette, just for kicks, decided to shove her chain into it. That's what is hanging from her grapefruit.

Say what??

The other day I took things a little personal when Collette told Ben something. She asked if he liked "crappy sauce." I seriously thought she was making fun of something I had made for them to eat. Nope~ when I asked her to explain what she was talking about she sat down and showed me. I spent the next few minutes trying to get her to say: Criss-Cross Applesauce =)

Abigail Makes Dinner

Laura went to a book club/dinner with her sister-in-laws. Collette, Benjamin, and I were outside playing. When I can inside Abigail had a bowl in her hand and was pulling leftovers out of the fridge. She decide to make us dinner. She got the pasta and wanted to put it in bowls and microwave it for us. She did (with my help) get it hot in the microwave. She set the table and decided where each of us were to sit. I'm proud that she took the initiative, showing independence and a desire to serve by making us dinner.

Hooray Abigail!

My New License Plate

They aren't vanity plates, just a coincidence. Jacob wishes he had this one (with the leading 6). I'm not yet sure where the 16 would fit, but am sure my Dad with think of something.

Abigail Promises to Be Mommy's Helper

We got it on camera. Abigail promises to do everything around the house. Someone's got to pick up the slack when Mom's tired, and Dad doesn't want to get up from the couch.

This was filmed Sunday - on our way to church.
